Skin & Hair
Emancipation in the land of long beans & smoked sausage
In 2012 Atelier Argos was asked by the Tropenmuseum Amsterdam to participate in a pitch for designing an exhibition, with two other agencies.
In collaboration with Millaa (Asselien van Dijk), it was decided to make a joint plan under the name of Bureau Visioen.
After the first round we were left with another agency and in round two the concepts were further developed.
Ultimately, this assignment was narrowly lost, but a beautiful concept had been developed on the theme of white & black with a shared history & future.
The Story
Man is a mosaic of his history.
We depict this through the use of photo-mosaic.
A metaphor for everyone's context (history / environment)
Everything is connected with everything.
We use it in the exhibition as follows:
Basic images (coat racks) that are made up of images from that period.

Present
From these images we extract colors that are used for the walls, showcases and other building elements in the exhibition.
These colors are used in the part of SEPARATED OUTSIDE & OUTSIDE TOGETHER.
We also use this principle in the INNER WORLD.
The TIMEBARS are colored using the Pantone Skin fan. With Slavery the amount of color is limited, with History and Present very diverse.
Around the exhibits and between the TIMEBARS and OUTER WORLD TOGETHER, the presentations and objects stand for SEPARATED OUTSIDE. 
Around the exhibits and between the TIMEBARS there will be presentations, showcases and objects in the INNER WORLD, culminating in the heart with the “Air your heart room” and the INSPIRATION / IRRITATION works by artists.
Furthermore, the idea is to collect results from certain active elements in the exhibition in the Gallery.
The Gallery is the center of recognizing, identifying and acknowledging color.

Emancipatie in het land van kousenband & rookworst
In 2012 werd Atelier Argos gevraagd door het Tropenmuseum Amsterdam om deel te nemen aan een pitch voor het ontwerpen van een expositie, met twee andere bureau's.
In samenwerking met Millaa (Asselien van Dijk) werd besloten om een gezamenlijk plan te maken onder de naam van Bureau Visioen.
Na de eerste ronde bleven wij over met een ander bureau en in ronde twee werden de concepten verder uitgewerkt.
Uiteindelijk werd deze opdracht nipt verloren maar was er wel een prachtig concept ontwikkeld over het thema wit & zwart met een gezamenlijke geschiedenis & toekomst.
Het verhaal
De mens is een mozaïek van zijn geschiedenis.
Wij verbeelden dit door het gebruik van foto-mozaïek.
Een metafoor voor ieders context (geschiedenis/omgeving)
Alles hangt met alles samen.
Wij gebruiken het als volgt in de tentoonstelling:
Basisbeelden (kapstokken) die opgebouwd worden uit beelden van die periode.

Vanuit deze beelden extraheren wij kleuren die gebruikt worden voor de wanden, vitrines en andere bouwelementen in de expositie.
Deze kleuren worden gebruikt in het deel van BUITEN GESCHEIDEN & BUITEN SAMEN.
In de BINNENWERELD hanteren we ook dit principe.
De TIJDBALKEN krijgen kleuren aan de hand van de Pantone Skin waaier.
Bij Slavernij is de hoeveelheid kleur beperkt, bij Geschiedenis en Heden heel divers.
Rondom de opstellingen en tussen de TIJDBALKEN en BUITENWERELD SAMEN, staan de presentaties en objecten voor BUITEN GESCHEIDEN.  Verder komen er presentaties, vitrines en objecten in de BINNENWERELD met als hoogtepunt het hart met de “Lucht je hart kamer” en de INSPIRATIE / IRRITATIE werken van kunstenaars. 
Verder is het idee om uitslagen, van bepaalde actieve elementen in de tentoonstelling, op te halen in de Gallery.
De Gallery is het centrum van kleur bekennen, herkennen en erkennen.
